We've seen a case on one of our Unity arrays where the SP utilization is very unbalanced. Roughly 25-30% on one SP compared to 80-90% on the other. Some difference is expected, but not this much. One of the first things I wanted to review was trespassed lun status. As it turns out, the Unity array doesn't provide much information in the GUI regarding trespassed luns. EMC Secure Remote Service (ESRS) is a secure, two way remote connection between EMC and your EMC products. It heartbeats routinely to EMC for checking connectivity as well as product status. It also has nice integration into MyService360 and CloudIQ to provide even more support data. It has a nice web based interface, but I like doing as much as possible via command line when I have the option. We have a lot of data being replicated by RecoverPoint. In fact we have well over a PB of storage behind RP on a Global scale. This represents a lot of RP clusters and Consistency Groups. We have well over 200 CGs. Keeping up with the replication and ensuring we have everything correctly configured for disaster recovery is a challenge, especially when you have a lot of change with luns being added and taken away from hosts. We recently implemented Brocade MAPS (Monitoring and Alerting Policy Suite) across all our SAN directors. MAPS replaces the Fabric Watch capabilities starting in FOS v7.4. It's much simpler to implement and manage compared to FW and provides well over 200 rules by default. Read more...
